Description
A sew-in is a hair extension service that involves braiding natural hair into cornrows, then attaching hair extensions to the braids with a needle and thread. The braids are used as anchors, and a small amount of natural hair is usually left out on top to cover the extensions. Sew-ins are typically used to add length or thickness to hair, and can last 6–8 weeks. The process can take 3–6 hours, depending on the type of hair, length, and amount of hair that needs to be sewn in. Sew-ins can feel uncomfortable at first, but the discomfort should go away with practice. They require very little upkeep, and can be washed with the weave on. 100% virgin human hair is considered the best hair type for sew-ins. Virgin hair is the most popular grade of weave hair because it has never been processed and can be color treated.
